Speaker 1: Hello and one welcome to the explainer video for the module in 11 Focus on primary level specific literary or cultural studies and action research. This module is for primary education students in their bachelor studies. This video aims to give an overview of in 11 final module exam organization. Therefore, it does not replace seminars or lectures attendance. In this video we will first take a look at the module handbook. Afterwards, I will talk about the seminars and lectures, and in the end we will take a closer look at the exam. So let's start off with a look at the module handbook. Once you've completed the module, you will get ten credit points, nine credit points in total for the seminars and one credit point for the exam. The ISP seminar, also known as Methodology seminar, is part of the module, but not of the exam. That is why I will not focus on this seminar. So let's take a closer look at the seminars and lectures. There are three essential courses You must either attend a literature or a cultural studies seminar. You also have to attend a seminar called Action or Empirical Research in the Foreign Language Classroom. Each of these seminars gives three credit points. The third essential course is the colloquium for exam candidates. This course is offered 4 to 5 times and it takes place at the beginning of the term. The first session is mandatory. At the end of the term, you will take your exam. For the exam, you need to sign up in the step through colloquium for exam candidates course. Let's move on to the setup of the final module exam. The exam at the end of the module in 11 is an oral exam and gives one credit point. The exam consists of three parts. One part deals with TFL. Then you can choose a topic on literature, cultural studies or linguistics. The final part is called Empirical Research Sketch, also known as ERs. You learn how to write the ERs in the seminar, empirical research in the classroom and in the colloquium for exam candidates course. At the beginning of the term, you choose topics for the three parts. There are some rules that you need to be aware of when choosing a topic. Those rules and further details will be shared in the colloquium for exam candidates course. Just a small piece of advice. Try to choose topics you're already familiar with and interested in. When finally taking the exam, you will have two examiners. They are going to ask you questions on your topic and you don't have to prepare a presentation like a PowerPoint. So the colloquium is not a presentation, but a formal discussion on an academic topic which includes question and answer time. The exam will take 25 minutes, seven minutes for each of the three parts and about four minutes for the examiners to discuss your grade. About two weeks before the exam takes place, there will be an opportunity to take part in a mock exam organized in the colloquium for exam candidates course.
